Photochromic lenses are also known as transitional lenses. They are capable of transitioning from light to dark and dark to light. Photochromic lenses are available in many types of sport sunglasses. There are small molecules inside the lens that will react to the suns UV rays. When the rays hit the lens, the molecules change shape and absorb some of the light from the sun. This causes the lens to turn darker. The photochromic lenses are becoming quite popular by sports enthusiasts because of this wonderful feature. This unique feature has saved me time and money as an amateur cyclist.
