Courts have transcriptionists

All legal cases have a transcriptionist who keeps a journal of the proceedings in a written format.  They transcribe the case into a format called verbatim where every person who speaks is marked with a name and timestamp. The transcriptionist at court is easy to spot as she is typing at a rapid rate as she transcribes the events unfolding.

It’s much harder than you think to type at a rate we speak so the transcriptionist will also record the case to tape. Before submitting the final transcription the Transcription Services will listen to the recording and adjust her transcript to level of exact accuracy.
